Transport for disabled students
What is it?

Adapted transport for students with disabilities who cannot use public transport on their own, so that young people with disabilities are not alone.

Conditions

To qualify, you must be a student with a disability who meets the following conditions:

  • Be domiciled in the Bouches-du-Rhône département
  • Be unable to use public transport on your own due to the seriousness of your medically proven disability
  • Public transport between home and school is not accessible for pupils and students with motor disabilities.
  • Unpaid apprentices or trainees with school status may be covered by the scheme if they meet all of the above conditions.
  • For students, attend one of the higher education establishments under the supervision of the Ministry of Education or Agriculture
Steps

Apply to the Maison Départementale des Personnes Handicapées (M.D.P.H. - Departmental House for Disabled People) tel: 0800 814 844.

On this occasion, you will be given the contact details of the school advisor at the school where the student is registered.
Students over the age of majority complete the application form, while students under the age of 18 have it completed by their legal representative.

The Commission des Droits et de l'Autonomie des Personnes Handicapées (C.D.A.P.H.) examines the application and issues a notification recognising or not the right to reimbursement by the Conseil Départemental.
If the C.D.A.P.H agrees to cover the costs: the Department can intervene in 3 ways:

  • Paying a mileage allowance
  • Issue an urban network card to the student and accompanying adult
  • Organising and financing specialised transport
