The higher education grant based on social criteria (BCS) is awarded to students who have financial difficulties in pursuing higher education
To qualify, you must meet all of the following conditions:
- Be under 28 when you apply for your first grant
- Be enrolled in an initial training course in France or another European Union country
- The establishment where the course is taken must be a public or private educational establishment authorised to receive grant holders.
- Full-time higher education
- Have a French baccalaureate
If you are not of French nationality, other conditions may apply (see website).
To apply for a grant, the Dossier Social Etudiant (or DSE) is the single procedure for applying for grants and accommodation in university halls of residence. This file must be completed every year.
The DSE is entered on the Internet, on the website of the CROUS of the academy where you are currently studying. The CROUS acts as a one-stop shop, and is your point of contact throughout the application process, even if you wish to study in another academy.
