Solid'AM is a non-profit organisation, recognised as being in the public interest and authorised to distribute food aid by the Prefecture of the PACA region. Founded some thirty years ago, it grew out of the solidarity section of the Aix-Marseille Student Union (formerly UNEF). Since its inception, it has run a number of solidarity initiatives, including the book exchange, which has also been running for some thirty years.
In 2020, during the first confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UNEF Aix-Marseille initiated food and meal distributions for students in great difficulty throughout the Aix-Marseille academy. This food aid has continued without interruption, and in 2021 we obtained prefectoral authorisation to distribute food aid.
In 2023, due to major disagreements, our association left the UNEF to co-found the Student Union. Faced with the worsening precariousness of student life and the limitations of the students' unions in responding to this distress, we decided in 2024 to leave the domain of the students' unions entirely and become a fully-fledged charity, focused on the fight against student precariousness. And so Solid'AM was born!
Our association is apolitical and non-partisan, and aspires to work with all those in the region who want to help students in need. Solid'AM organises food distributions on four campuses of the University of Aix-Marseille. In Marseille, our distributions take place at our premises in St Jérôme, as well as on the Luminy and St Charles campuses. In Aix-en-Provence, we are present on the Schuman campus.
To be eligible for our food distribution, you must be a student and have no more than €10 a day to live on. This means that once you have subtracted your monthly expenses from your income, you should have a maximum of €310 left over per month. A table is provided in the registration form to help you calculate your monthly income and expenditure. In certain cases, exceptions can be made by appointment with our volunteers.
To benefit from our food aid, you must register by filling in the form below and returning a beneficiary registration form via the same form. Once you have registered, our volunteers will contact you to inform you of the dates, places and times of our distributions, depending on your eligibility. A contribution of €2 is required to receive a food parcel containing dry food and hygiene products, distributed every week. Our volunteers will let you know how to pay.
Distributions of fruit and vegetable baskets are not subject to social criteria, but are available at cost price (around €5 per basket). The dates, places and times of these distributions will be communicated on our social networks.
