Disability compensation allowance (PCH)
What is it?

The PCH is financial assistance paid by the department.

It is used to finance certain expenses linked to your disability (for example, adapting your home or vehicle, hiring a carer to help you with everyday tasks).

It's personalised help that's tailored to your needs.

Conditions

To receive the PCH, you must meet the following conditions loss of autonomy, d'ageof resources and residence.

Autonomy

You must be in one of the following situations:

  • Are you experiencing difficulties? absolute to carry out an important day-to-day activity from among a list of activities (for example, washing). Difficulty is said to be absolute if you cannot perform the activity at all.
  • Are you experiencing difficulties? serious to carry out at least 2 important activities of daily life, including a list of activities (for example, washing and walking). Difficulty in performing these activities is classed as severe if you have difficulty carrying them out.

If you are over 20

  • You must be under 60 to apply for the PCH.
  • However, you can apply for the PCH after the age of 60, without any age limit, if you already met the conditions for entitlement before the age of 60 or if you continue to work.

Resources

The PCH is not means-tested. However, your resources are taken into account to determine the rate at which your expenses to compensate for your disability are covered.

Your expenses will be covered up to 100 % of their rate if your annual resources are less than or equal to 29 061,72 €or 80 % if they are higher.

Residence

You can receive the PCH if you live at home or in an institution.
