Made up of more than 200 young people, this guard covers the whole of France, providing a human resource for surveillance and information on forest fire prevention. These young people have undergone 1 week of high-level training under the supervision of fire professionals. They will be equipped with innovative resources (drones) and connected to the fire brigade. Surveillance of the massifs will be stepped up considerably.
The tasks are as follows:
- Develop a culture of fire risk awareness among residents and visitors to the forest areas, and among young people taking part in the operation.
- Strengthen the capacities of regional players in terms of prevention, information, awareness-raising and monitoring of the risk of fire around natural areas and forests.
- To support existing surveillance systems for mountain ranges, approved by the civil security authorities during high-risk periods.
- Alongside the Comités Communaux des Feux de Forêts (local forest fire committees) in particular, the Regional Forestry Service will play a key role on the ground.
To qualify, you must be aged between 18 and 25.
You need to take part in an intensive one-week training course, under the supervision of forest and fire professionals, to learn the theoretical and practical basics of fire prevention in the best possible conditions.
